Yes, you really do. When you’re thinking about using vehicle finance to get your next set of wheels – be that a car, motorbike, van, caravan, motorhome or horsebox – it’s always a good idea to find out how much you might be able to borrow before you go off shopping. We’ll explain why.
It’s really easy. Just choose what kind of vehicle you want finance for – we can find finance for cars, vans, motorbikes, caravans, motorhomes and horseboxes. Then we’ll need to know what your credit score is like, if you don’t know, you can find this out using one of the free credit history check services available online. Now it’s time to tell us how much you want to pay back each month and how long you want to take to pay it back. All you need to do now is hit the ‘Get Quote’ button. Remember, this is only an estimate. If you want a more accurate monthly figure, ask us for a quote.
There’s one very good reason to use the vehicle finance calculator – budget. Believe us when we say, it’s really useful to know what you can spend before you go looking for your new set of wheels. There’s nothing worse than finding the perfect vehicle, then finding out that the finance to pay for it is beyond your budget. So, work out your monthly budget, decide how long you want to take to pay it back and the calculator will give you an idea of how much you could potentially borrow. Now, this is not guaranteed, but it’s better than nothing and allows you to start your search knowing a ball park figure.
How long you can borrow the money for depends on what it is you want to buy with the finance. Different vehicles have different maximum times, so car, van, motorbike finance has a maximum time of 5 years. But if you want to buy a caravan, motorhome or horsebox, the maximum time is between 6-10 years, depending on the lender. There are some other things that might affect how long you can borrow the money for, like how old the vehicle is that you want to buy.
Yes, if you have a deposit, that’s really great. Finance providers are always happy to see that you have a deposit to put towards your new vehicle. And, having a deposit could also work in your favour when it comes to the amount you can borrow, it seems to us that having a deposit means you’ll probably be able to borrow more.
We do, so we’re happy to hear that you have a vehicle to part exchange. Let us know what you have and we’ll see what difference it makes to your quote. In our experience, it usually means you can borrow more, but we don’t guarantee it.
No, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be offered this amount. If you decide to have a quote or apply for finance though us, we’d ask you a lot more questions about your life, like if you have a job, how much you earn, what your incomings and outgoings are, that kind of thing. We’d also ask you for your address details for the last three years so we can look at your credit history to see what your score is. Until we have all this information, a rough idea is all we can offer.
We can definitely give you a more accurate idea of how much your monthly finance payments would be, but we’d need to take more details from you. This means it takes a little longer to do, and you’ll have to get some details together, like your wage, your address for the last three years, that kind of thing. Once we have all that, we can provide you with a much more accurate quote.
