There’s one thing you need when you’re running your own business – a real love of what you do. For me that was easy. Motorbikes were, and still are, a love of mine. I was particularly drawn to enduro racing, that’s off road motorbiking, jumping over obstacles and stuff. And did a fair bit of green laning too, which is riding motorbikes on legal, but rarely used roads. What this interest did, is make me really knowledgeable about motorbikes, which I’ve put to use more than once.
Along side that interest in motorbikes, was a desire to be my own boss. I knew from the age of about 13 or 14 that I wanted to run my own business, and set out achieving that goal. After one or two teenage attempts at start-ups I was dead set on the idea of being my own boss.
Skip forward a few years. I’m cutting my teeth as a finance specialist at two of the biggest players in the car finance market. And loving almost everything about it – I still really wanted to start a business. So, I decided to use the knowledge I gained as a specialist team leader to set up on my own, making my ambition to be my own boss, in an area I know and love, a reality.
But more than that, it meant I could offer people that little bit extra. The bit that shows you that I care enough to go out of my way. I really do want to make vehicle finance as simple as possible. After all, buying a car is one of the biggest purchases a person makes, behind buying a home, so it needs to be right, right?
That’s how The Vehicle Financer was born.
Now, I get to help people find, and finance, all kinds of vehicles everyday. My knowledge has expanded too. Want to know about horseboxes, motorhomes, caravans, vans, cars or motorbikes? I’m your man. And now I’m not the only one. I’ve been lucky enough to find some people who are as keen on doing as good a job as I am. We make a pretty great team.
